Roasted Cauliflower & Broccoli Dipped in Sesame Seed Sauce
I love roasted cauliflower. I tried cauliflower for the first time earlier this year in my cauliflower alfredo sauce recipe. Since then, I’ve been trying it everywhere I go including this cute mediterranean restaurant a few blocks away. They serve fried cauliflower over rice with this delicious garlic tahini dressing. Craving that dish but not wanting all of those calories, I came up with this sesame cauliflower and broccoli as a healthier alternative.
If you haven’t hear of tahini before, it is ground up sesame seed paste. I would compare it to peanut butter- minus the peanuts and add in some sesame seeds. It might seems weird at first but it is actually really good. It has a nutty taste and milk flavor which makes it great for versatile sauces and vegan substitutions. I buy it at most major grocery stores or the local health food store.
Start by preheating your oven and chopping one head of broccoli and one head of cauliflower. Toss them into a medium pan and add a few drizzles of olive oil. Season your veggies with some cracked black pepper, paprika, and sesame seeds and roast at 400 for about 20 minutes.
Roasted Cauliflower and Broccoli with Tahini Sauce
1 head broccoli
1 head cauliflower
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp pepper
2 tbsp sesame seeds
3 tbsp tahini
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp water
1 tbsp garlic powder
Roast the seasoned vegetables at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. While the vegetables cook, whisk together tahini, lemon juice, water and garlic powder to create a dipping sauce. Serve the two together and enjoy!
Recipe makes 4 portions.
